CEREC: Single-visit dental crowns

Pannu Dental now offers CEREC digital dentistry! CEREC is an advanced dental restorative system that allows Dr. Pannu to restore decayed teeth, place crowns, remove defective amalgam fillings, or place cosmetic veneers in just one appointment. This means fewer injections, less drilling and less time. You can have the highest quality, most lifelike dental restorations in just one visit to the dentist…in, out and on with your busy life.

Let’s face it, very few of us have perfect teeth. If you’ve ever had a broken tooth or decay, you’re all too familiar with the arduous task of getting a dental crown or filling. A CEREC tooth restoration is not just convenient, it is also healthy. Many years ago, dentists had few options to repair decayed and damaged teeth other than amalgam, gold, and other metals. With CEREC, Dr. Pannu can use strong, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. Also, these materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, so Dr. Pannu can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.

Sound too good to be true? Here’s how it’s done:

The system eliminates the need for any return visits by creating a complete tooth restoration in about 10 to 20 minutes. Using the mobile CEREC aquisition unit (we use the CEREC Bluecam), Dr. Pannu takes a digital photograph of the tooth and with the CEREC 3D imaging software, a model that becomes the pattern for the restoration is instantly rendered right before your very eyes in minutes. This information is then sent to the in-office CEREC milling unit (we use the CEREC inLab MC XL). The milling unit then chisels the restoration from strong, color matched porcelain material. Once the restoration is made, the Dentist tries the restoration in the mouth to ensure proper fit and bite. The restoration is then polished and bonded to the prepared tooth. Your tooth is restored with no “temporary” or return trip necessary.  The entire process from beginning to end can have you in and out of the dentist’s office in as few as 40 minutes.
