White Crowns for BEAUTIFUL Smiles

Gone are the days when a dental crown meant sacrificing your all-white smile. Now, to repair a damaged tooth, a white porcelain crown can keep your smile looking natural and beautiful.

What is a porcelain dental crown?

A porcelain dental crown is an all-ceramic crown placed over the top of an damaged tooth to return health, structure. appearance, and durability. White crowns are cosmetically ideal, because they look like natural teeth. Unlike porcelain-fused metal crowns, all-porcelain crowns do not leave any evidence of metal near the gum-line.

What area of the mouth is best for porcelain dental crowns?

Porcelain dental crowns are ideal for the area for front teeth — the teeth that show in a smile. Pay attention in the mirror and watch how many teeth are exposed at your widest smile. Those teeth that are showing the most would be well suited for white crowns. (more…)

Are Dental Bridges Right for You?

Do you have a tooth that needs to be replaced? Many people lose teeth due to injury, disease, or poor oral health. Besides embarrassment or lack of self-esteem, missing teeth cause more serious problems. Missing teeth lead to a change in facial shape, problems chewing, and even loss of other teeth. Mouth pain can also result as your other teeth try to compensate. Luckily, many options exist to replace missing teeth.

Dental implants are a very good option to replace missing teeth, however, they’re not for everyone. Dental implants can take months and require multiple dental visits to complete. Some patients cannot endure the implant procedure, or require preparatory procedures to become an implant candidate. For many, a dental bridge is the best solution.

A porcelain dental bridge replaces one or more teeth in a row. Bridges are anchored to existing teeth with crowns on either side. Furthermore, bridges are a fixed in place, meaning that they cannot be removed by the patient. Bridges may also be secured to dental implants, rather than crowned natural teeth.

Dental bridges can sometimes be fitted in a single office visit and often are more affordable than other tooth replacement options. If you have a tooth that needs to be replaced, contact us today and let us help restore your smile and prevent permanent damage. We will also pinpoint any underlying problems and make sure your smile stays beautiful.

Pannu Dental Care has a team of general dentists and dental specialists to assess dental bridge patients, plan implant placement, and carry out complete dental implant procedures in Cupertino, San Jose, Fremont, and Dublin, CA. Porcelain Crowns Can Restore the Beauty and Functionality of Your Teeth

Dental crowns can repair the form and function of decayed or damaged teeth that are beyond restoration from a filling alone. In fact, dental crowns can also replace teeth that are completely missing or lost when they are placed over a dental implant. Dr. Pannu and his associates at Pannu Dental Care’s four Bay Area dental offices offer high-quality dental crowns.

Metal crowns were once the standard for restoring front and back teeth. But Pannu dental care offers two beautiful, long-lasting alternatives to metal crowns:

Porcelain: These dental restorations mimic natural teeth and are available in a variety of colors and opacity levels that can blend with your teeth. As porcelain crowns cannot withstand extremely high amounts of force, they are best placed in low-stress areas, like the front teeth.

Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM): Because of their metal base (gold, in this case), PFM crowns are stronger than crowns made from porcelain alone. They are also natural-looking and come in a variety of color options to match your teeth. PFM crowns are a terrific option for back teeth or for use in high-stress situations, such as bruxism (nighttime grinding).

Crown placement takes at least two office visits. During the first appointment, your dentist will remove decay, shape the tooth, take an impression of the tooth, and then place a temporary plastic or metal crown over the tooth. When you come in for your second visit, the dentist will remove the temporary crown and make final adjustments to the permanent crown before cementing it to your tooth. With proper care, including good at-home hygiene and regular dental visits, your crowns could last for up to 30 years!

Free Dental Implant Seminar in Fremont, CA

Are you missing teeth? Do you wear dentures that slip, slide, or feel uncomfortable? Do you need a bridge, but you hate the thought of altering healthy teeth to replace lost teeth? If so, mark your calendar to attend a free seminar on the revolutionary dental prosthetic, dental implants. Dr. Pannu of DentistonAir.com and Pannu Dental Care is offering this seminar to the community on Thursday, April 28th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at Fremont Senior Center.

  • Dentures rely on natural suction or denture adhesive for stability. Over time, they wear down the ridges of gums, which means they must continually be relined to fit properly. In addition, dentures require special care that can get in the way of an active lifestyle.
  • Partials depend upon surrounding teeth for support. Small metal clasps attach to healthy teeth and stabilize a partial. Over time, the supporting teeth may become worn or damaged due to the burden of the partial.
  • Crown and bridge systems are usually anchored to crowns placed on healthy teeth. To secure the crowns, the healthy teeth must be reduced, which means good, strong dental tissue is removed.
  • Dental implants, however are secured just like natural teeth – with small implant posts that mimic teeth roots. Implants can replace a single, a few, or all teeth. They can also anchor a bridge, partial, or denture.

Education is essential to making wise decisions in all areas of life. Plan to attend Dr. Pannu’s free dental implant seminar, so you can learn the facts and make an informed plan for the future of your oral health and quality of life.

Could a White Crown Work for You?

A dental crown restores a fractured, deeply decayed, or chipped tooth. Made in a dental lab, a crown covers the entire portion of a tooth that extends above the gum line. In past years, crowns were made of all metal or porcelain fused to metal. Today, however, natural-looking all-porcelain crowns are often used on teeth that show in a smile.

The teeth in the front of your mouth are used for biting, not chewing. They’re also the teeth that show when you smile. Because these front teeth don’t have to endure the crushing pressure exerted on back teeth when you chew, all-ceramic (or all-porcelain) crowns can last for years on front teeth. They look and feel natural, so you won’t have to worry about metal dental work detracting from your white, beautiful smile. (more…)

Tetracyline stains treated at Pannu Dental Care

Dr.Pannu has been very helpful and the staffs here are very nice and friendly,” Annie.L
Annie is a young beautiful girl from Fremont who was always hesitant to smile due to stained teeth. She had extremly dark stains from tetracyline antibiotic. It’s a fairly powerful antibiotic that kills a broad spectrum of bacteria, and it can be life-saving. However, when it is taken while teeth are forming, it deposits in the dentin and enamel of the teeth and creates a permanent gray or brown stain. It can be a uniform discoloration of the entire tooth or can occur in the form of horizontal bands of stain of varying intensity. They can range from mild to very dark.

Porcelain veneer are the treatment of choice for tetracycline stains. But you really need an expert <a href=”http://www.pannudental.com” target=”_blank”>cosmetic dentist—these stains are different from any other in that they are very deep in the tooth, and to cover them up requires a mastery of color, translucency, and opacity.

Porcelain crown change the smile of this San Jose gentleman

Mr. SS had severe abrasion/erosion of enamel. Porcelain crowns were the treatment of choice.  The result is a very aesthetic smile.

Tooth Erosion and abrasion are terms which refer to the loss of external tooth structure(enamel), but erosion means loss of the tooth structure by means of chemical agents and abrasion due to mechanical friction of the tooth structure with any external agent.

Most common agents which cause tooth erosion are aerated/carbonated drinks such as soft drinks which are not usually soft on the tooth,Gastric juices when regurgitated into the oral cavity in case of severe vomiting, some citric juices, wine also has been seen to cause erosion due to its low pH, Chlorine mixed in swimming pools, sugars which on fermenting turn into acid and erode the tooth. At Pannu Dental Care we do comprehensive exam for all patients and help to treat abrasion and erosion at early stages.
