3D CT Scan: State-of-the-Art Dental Imaging

In the past, surgery, implantology and other oral procedures involved a lot of guesswork. Because older technologies do not allow a superior level of anatomical accuracy, a lot of approximations were made.

Not anymore! Pannu Dental is pleased to offer our patients with state-of-the-art in-office 3D CT scans for the diagnosis, and treatment planning of orthodontics, implantology, TMJ analysis, airway assessment, oral and orthognathic surgery, periodontics, endodontics, and more. With 3D CT scans, our highly experienced team can provide more accurate and predictable results along with greatly enhanced safety.

What is a 3D CT Scan?

A 3D CT scan is a volumetric image of your teeth, jaws, and surrounding vital structures. It shows, in high resolution and unparalled detail, structures not visible with traditional X-rays. With a 3D CT scan, our doctors can diagnose, plan and assess treatment for prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, TMJ and oral surgery.

Our practice utilizes state-of-the-art, full cranial cone-beam CT (computed tomography) technology that provides highly accurate three dimensial and cross section views that are much more precise than traditional  X-rays. Undistorted, anatomically correct views of the jaws, teeth and facial bones along with cross-sectional (bucco-lingual), axial, coronal, sagittal, cephalometric and panoramic views are easily generated. These 3D computerized images provide detailed views of the facial structures, sinuses and nerves that enable our highly trained doctors to determine with accuracy and safety, the proper treatment approach for each individual patient. Also, because it gives our dentists the complete anatomical information on bone and pathology prior to surgery, the patient experiences less trauma and more predictable surgical outcomes.

Is the Scan Comfortable?

Yes! You are seated in an open area unlike an MRI scan-and the CT scanner moves around your head. The scan will take place in Pannu Dental’s comfortable Cupertino office and from start to finish, it will take about 19 seconds.

Is the CT Safe?

The scan is very safe! We use cone beam technology, which emits very small amounts of radiation for the CT scan. In fact, the imaging requires less radiation than a traditional X-ray and the cone beam technology emits 80 to 100 times less radiation than a traditional medical CT scan of the same area. Plus, the CT is also safe for your wallet with lower costs than a medical CT.

With the addition of cone-beam CT technology in our office, our practice is committed to providing innovative, high-quality, patient care. CT scans are quickly becoming the standard of care because it offers the doctor so much more information than traditional 2D flat image X-rays. If you live anywhere in the Bay Area, Dr. Pannu and his friendly staff of professionals are prepared to offer you the best in advanced dentistry. Just call 1 (800) 360-9250 for a consultation.
